GxAlert to Fight Ebola

GxAlert to Fight Ebola by Joining/Forming Open Source Coalition

System One - Disease Intelligence. At The Speed of Now.

We’ve joined Emmanuel Andre’s team at the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium, and Ali Habib’s XpertSMS team in Pakistan to unite the open source community of GeneXpert software providers against the Ebola outbreak. After several discussions it became clear that we can leverage our collective wisdom and broad reach of implementation to rapidly adapt a disease surveillance solution for the Cepheid SmartCycler(TM) diagnostic device, currently diagnosing ebola in several African countries.

We believe that within a few weeks, we could modify our existing software to enable ebola results to be automatically reported to aid workers, the Ministries of Health, and the global research community quickly, cheaply, and effectively via SMS text, email, web dashboards, and direct connections into patient records and national M&E platforms.

As a team, we’ve already deployed a similar solution for Tuberculosis that’s now in 21 nations, connecting over 262 GeneXpert labs, and communicating hundreds of thousands of patient results.

What Do We Need?

We need a small amount of short term, immediate funding, and the continued support of Cepheid. Please see the attached concept note for more details and breakdowns of “If we had $50k we could do A…If we had $100k we could do B…”

Please share this with whoever wants to join our efforts to stamp out this outbreak of ebola!
