DATA ENGINEER

We are looking for an accomplished MySQL developer to join our multidisciplinary team to ensure the functionality, performance, availability, and security of the Aspect application and its MySQL instances. Your responsibility also includes designing, coding, and testing SQL schemas and queries using industry standard MySQL tools and best-practices. The developer may also need to train and mentor junior developers on best practices for functionality, performance, and high availability.

 

As a Back-End Engineer at SystemOne, you will build software that collects data from clinics and laboratories using NodeJS, React, React-Native, and MySQL. We use agile methodologies to develop our distributed diagnostic data network platform, working in 2-week sprints to continuously deliver customer value.  This position reports to our Director of Engineering.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Recognize possibilities to improve performance in SQL operations and implementations

  • Manage operations of the production, and staging environment databases

  • Collaborate with product teams to execute and improve the data warehouse

  • Communicate with engineering and customer teams to design, implement and monitor migration and backup plans

  • Work together with the business team to design and implement reports

  • Conduct technical troubleshooting and bug fixing

  • Work on design recommendations for database functions to meet business operating standards

 

Requirements (Must Have)

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant field

  • 5 years professional experience in developing software using at least one of the following:

    • MySQL

    • PostgreSQL

    • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries

  • Working knowledge of ETL tools, like Talend

  • Proficiency in Data Warehouse and BI Tools, like Tableau, Looker

  • Knowledge of Unix shell scripting

  • Understanding of installation and configuration of MySQL in multiple environments

  • Be comfortable working in a team that spans many time zones, countries, and cultures.

Nice to HaveExperience in one or more of the following is a big bonus:

  • NodeJS

  • AWS services, especially EC2, RDS, VPC

  • Devops/Ansible

  • Software Networking & Routing Platforms on Linux

  • ASTM, HL7

  • Medical Information, LIS, LIMS

  • C#, Windows Forms
