NORTHAMPTON, MASSACHUSETTS, July 21, 2020: SystemOne is proud to continue strengthening health systems in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) in the Ukraine. SystemOne partnered with PATH and the Ukraine National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) in October 2019 to implement the USAID Support TB Control Efforts in the Ukraine project that seeks to reduce the TB epidemic among people living with TB, drug-resistant TB (DR-TB), and TB/Human Immunodeficiency Virus co-infection through early detection, appropriate care, and prevention efforts. This includes active case finding, early diagnosis with up-to-date diagnostics, timely treatment initiation and completion, and improved data reporting, collection and analysis.
Building on work initiated in 2017, the USAID subaward will strengthen and expand the Ukraine’s national program in 24 oblasts, connecting 93 GeneXpert point of care devices, 36 Becton Dickinson (BD) BACTEC™ MGIT™ devices and 4 LPA (Line Probe Assay) second-line devices in central labs. All devices will connect with SystemOne’s Aspect platform, an upgraded version of GxAlert, with full integration into the national case management system to give decision-makers within the national health system a single view of TB results across the country. Aspect Reporter, SystemOne’s new mobile app, will enable quick communication of results to health workers, clinicians and patients and enable confirmation of the link to treatment. Aspect creates value for NTP programs by reducing turnaround time which helps decrease disease transmission and by enabling greater operational efficiencies such as elimination of stockouts and a reduction in loss-to-follow-up. The software also allows for secure, privacy-protected program data to be optimally used by the country as needed by them.
SystemOne’s Aspect platform will support key objectives of Ukraine’s TB Program, including increased detection of TB and DR-TB, increased treatment success for TB and all types of DR-TB, and increased data analysis for better programming. GeneXpert device data will inform key program indicators at the beginning of the project and will be used for monitoring current and evolving disease burden and trends, tracking the effectiveness of programs, identifying program gaps, planning interventions, improving program efficiencies and making policy decisions.
The four-year partnership will enable PATH and SystemOne to fully implement an integrated program that features world-class software with smart interventions. Together, the team will work with the Ukraine NTP decision makers to save lives and ‘stop TB’ in Ukraine.
